Here’s the Situation
- L.A. County is home to 5 million voters.
- In October 2016, 52% of L.A. County voters were registered Democrats, 19% were registered Republicans, 4% were registered with smaller parties and 25% indicated “no party preference.”
- The Migration Policy Institute estimates that L.A. County has the largest illegal immigrant population not only in California but also in the nation at 1,062,000 people.
- California has the highest Supplemental Poverty Measure in the U.S. at 20.6 percent according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Unlike the Official Poverty Measure, the Supplemental Measure includes the value of housing vouchers and food assistance and also accounts for differences in the price of housing in different regions.
